The Early Bird Catches The Worm
Undeniably has this widespread proverb been confirmed time and time again through The Triumph of the Assiduous and the Collapse of the Sluggish. However there remains one realm wherein this rule is confirmed by an exception which hopefully my chaste words will delicately attempt to explain. The crucial element potentially causing this verdict to topple from a well-intentioned proverb to an instructional no-no is its chronology. How early does the bird have to wake up is indeed the question. Often, overzealousness leads to negative results therein the pursued prey might not have totally awoken its senses to come to the required paroxysm, in which it is most vulnerable to the bird’s beak.
This can be summed up by the following fundamental equation: iza early eja = cu later.

I can exploit the testimony to boot
"The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese."
"The eagle soars, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines."
Now that is wisdom...
