UN RETRAIT MILITAIRE N'ENTRAÎNERAIT PAS LA FIN DE L'INFLUENCE SYRIENNE
L'armée syrienne est présente au Liban depuis son intervention dans la guerre civile libanaise (1975-1990).
Après avoir contribué au retour à la paix, la Syrie a placé son voisin sous une tutelle politique et militaire.
Assad a toutefois prévenu qu'un retrait militaire n'entraînerait pas la fin de l'influence syrienne sur le Liban.
"Le retrait de la Syrie du Liban ne signifie pas l'absence d'un rôle (au Liban) pour la Syrie", a-t-il déclaré. "
La force de la Syrie et son rôle au Liban ne dépendent pas de la présence de ses soldats au Liban."
L'assassinat de Rafic Hariri le 14 février a suscité l'indignation d'une partie de la population libanaise, qui impute cet attentat meurtrier aux services syriens et ose désormais exiger ouvertement la fin de la tutelle syrienne.

why should they leave? they're undercover anyway...
the thing that's killing me the most is that the US is intervening in this, just because they want to make their "war on terrorism" seem legitimate... and that now they're fighting the evil dictator before things become worse, the way they became in Iraq.
man... it's eating me up inside, the way all these kharas play their game, innou we want what's best for our neighbors and friends... i would even respect them if they just said the truth, that all they're looking for is to control.
